About Greater Buffalo Veterinary Service
The Greater Buffalo Veterinary Emergency Service, aka the Veterinary Emergency Clinic was created by local veterinarians in 1978 as an after-hours practice to function as an extension to their own veterinary hospitals. They recognized that more pets in crisis could be saved or started on the road to recovery sooner if comprehensive emergency intervention was available overnight as well as on weekends and holidays. As of June 2016, the Veterinary Emergency Clinic has grown to provide 24 hour veterinary emergency services throughout the the greater Western New York area and beyond. Having outgrown our original location, a new state-of-the-art facility was designed and built in 2012. This fully equipped facility enabled the expansion of the professional staff to better service the veterinary patient needs. There are currently 7.5 DVMs on staff with a total staff of approximately 60. The Veterinary Emergency Clinic is owned by over 35 area veterinarians and is affiliated with multiple local veterinary hospitals. Services are, however, offered to all animal hospitals and pet owners in need of emergency services.
