Come join our awesome shelter medicine team in Greenville South Carolina! We are looking for a high quality, high volume spay/neuter veterinarian who is passionate about animal welfare and helping to create a no kill community. Greenville County Animal Care is an open intake municipal county shelter with an annual intake of about 9000 animals with 87% save rate. On staff are 68 people, including 6 full time and part time veterinarians and 16 veterinarian assistants.
The shelter is located just 10 minutes from downtown Greenville and Reedy Falls Park. It is also situated just 10 minutes from downtown Traveler’s Rest and an hour drive to Asheville NC. We are a progressive shelter that has implemented many new programs in the last 2 years to help create a no kill community. We have a community cat diversion program; free spay/neuter for any large breed dog and free TNR programs. Our spay/neuter clinic runs a wellness clinic designated for those on government assistance and we are implementing a surrender prevention program.
The veterinarian will spend most of his/her time in the clinic, performing surgeries. The spay/neuter clinic provides services to shelter pets, rescues and the general public. Most surgeries are spay/neuter; however other soft tissue surgeries are done, such as but not limited to: mass removals, laceration repairs, cystotomies and exploratory surgeries. New graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply. Shelter medicine experience is desired but not required.
No weekend shifts, usually done around 5 pm each day. We are an eligible organization for the federal student loan forgiveness program.
