This position is one of three clinical specialists in charge of the expansion, management and programmatic oversight of the Cardiology specialty service.
Responsible for providing specialty veterinary care in cardiology at the University of California Veterinary Medical Center-San Diego (UCVMC-SD). Essential functions of this role will include diagnosis and management of animal patients presented or referred for cardiovascular disease and specialty consultations, co-participation with related services at the UCVMC-SD and UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, teaching, research and program support activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: -Must be a licensed veterinarian with the expectation to be licensed in the State of California within 6-months of hire.
-Board certified in Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Cardiology or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Cardiology.
-Experience with continuing education presentations at the local, national and international levels.
-Experience training veterinary students and house officers.
-Skills to provide ongoing expertise, oversight and consultation for the cardiology program.
-Training in design and execution of clinical research.
-Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
