Summary of Primary Job Responsibilities, Skills and Knowledge:
The Practice Manager oversees and coordinates the daily operation of the emergency hospital and is critical to the success and its team members.
Understands the balance between administrative and hospital functions in the veterinary health care team.
Clearly communicates and supports the mission, vision, and core values of Veterinary Specialty Care.
Is proactive in communicating and achieving the goals of VSC to the team.
Directly assists in the management and engagement of the veterinary team to ensure an inclusive, positive, and collaborative culture.
Interviewing candidates, hiring/terminating, and onboarding new employees
Strong communication, leadership, and motivational skills. Ability to direct, guide and assist team members to include effectively solving concerns regarding personnel conflicts and performance.
Possesses a strong commitment to the client experience and has the ability to listen with an open mind in order to learn from previous experiences that might have missed the goal of making sure every client and patient has a positive outcome.
Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and laws. This includes but is not limited to: OSHA, DEA, ADA, and EEOC. Help develop and maintain procedures necessary to meet requirements.
Work collaboratively with the outreach coordinator, inner-departmental management team, departmental practice managers, hospital administrator and owners.
Requires the ability to problem solve and make decisions without supervision.
Has a thorough working knowledge of emergency and general veterinary terminology, principles, and standards.
A minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience in the Specialty/ER veterinary industry or a combination of education and experience.
Supervisory experience in a veterinary hospital setting
Demonstrated work history of above average performance, customer service, and attendance.
Compassionate, collaborative, and professional
Above average communication skills
Can lead, manage, and coach team members of all levels
Must have a strong work ethic
Be available to work outside "normal" business hours and/or overtime to address team, business, and client concerns
