Full-Time Veterinarian Needed
Spay Neuter Veterinary Services, LLC, the veterinary clinic service provider for the non-profit Alabama Spay/Neuter Clinic, Inc. in Irondale, AL (greater Birmingham metro area) is looking for a 4th full-time veterinarian to join our 3 doctor team! The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and sense of humor while maintaining our high professional standards. If you haven’t been trained in efficient high-volume surgery, our lead veterinarian has been to the ASPCA’s spay/neuter training center in Asheville, NC and will teach you how to comfortably and confidently perform approximately 35 efficient spay/neuter surgeries a day!
About The Practice: We are a low-cost surgery clinic only with no wellness clinics. Our clinic offers spay/neuter surgeries to shelter animals and rescues and we target individuals who cannot afford to have their pets sterilized elsewhere. We are NOT a traditional veterinary practice but still offer top-notch care! Our mission is to reduce the pet overpopulation problem in the Birmingham metro area and beyond and therefore decrease shelter euthanasia and increase pet adoption in our area.
This is a fast-paced environment focused on providing high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter surgeries. We average 90-110 surgeries per day with 3 doctors and are looking to grow to approximately 120-140 surgeries per day with 4 doctors.
Very little client interaction. Most of your time is spent helping pets and having fun with our close-knit team! Spay Neuter Veterinary Services is a "behind the scenes" veterinary practice that provides veterinary services for the non-profit Alabama Spay/Neuter. To learn more about what we do check out www.alspay.org
Hours and Benefits: Doctor hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm, Mon-Thurs. NO FRIDAYS AND NO WEEKENDS. Veterinarians average 26-32 hours per week and still receive full-time benefits! We are closed 1-2 weeks around Christmas and New Year's and are closed on 8 major holidays. We offer PTO, licensing fees, professional dues, CE, and health insurance!
Doctors rotate call for weekends (8 am to 8 pm) for spay and neuter emergency re-checks and earn extra compensation to handle any weekend emergencies (very rare). When fully staffed, doctors are on call only one weekend a month. The majority of our emergencies can be handled by calling in a prescription for a pet. Very rare to have to come into the clinic when closed.
Enjoy great shopping, dining, and schools all around the greater Birmingham metro! We are a half day’s drive from the majestic Great Smokey Mountains as well as the sugar white sands and blue-green waters of the beautiful Gulf Coast. Have fun being a vet and find the joy in serving others and helping animals through spay and neuter. New graduates are welcome to apply. Compensation is based on high-volume spay and neuter experience.
Interested Candidates: Send CV to Margaret Ferrell, DVM at snvsjobs@gmail.com
Benefits: Health and Dental Insurance from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, 2 weeks paid time off, $2500 CE Allowance, AVMA-PLIT Liability Insurance, DEA and DVM licenses, dues to national, state, and local associations. Relocation package available.
Job Requirements: DVM or equivalent. The ideal candidate has the following attributes: a positive attitude, a sense of humor, the ability to get along with multiple personalities, strong work ethic, a desire to help and serve others, able to lift 50 lbs unassisted, easy-going, timely, and professional.
Perform pre-surgical examinations, perform 35+ surgeries after training and implementing the techniques taught, perform post-operative checks, perform re-check exams and administer any necessary treatments.
