Having just passed our 4 year mark, we are looking for a full-time veterinarian to join our team.

There are on-site housing options including temporary (while you relocate) or permanent (if you prefer) and we are looking for an initial 4-year contract/commitment.

Oscar’s Place currently has 190 donkeys at our main location, with plans to add a second location and another 50 donkeys this year.

Responsibilities would include daily evaluation and medications, on-site urgent care, sample collection & processing, foaling, senior care, herd management and husbandry including weights, vaccines, deworming and welfare assessments.

The Oscar’s Place Veterinarian will also work closely with the leadership team on the evolution and implementation of best-practices and protocols.

The ideal candidate would have equine experience (donkey-specific a plus, but not required) and have the ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment with excellent communication skills.

We are looking for an animal team lead that would bring not only experience and expertise, but also compassion, a thoughtful business approach and a strong team mindset.

We work very closely with UC Davis Large Animal Clinic and The Donkey Sanctuary in the UK – and both organizations could participate in helping grow your donkey-specific knowledge.
